Jadewood is a three piece rock band from Houston, Texas. The band began to take shape when Lead Vocalist, Elias Sanchez, and Drummer, Librado “Lee” Cerda, crossed paths at work. Elias had been playing guitar for 7 years but he didn’t start writing songs until 4 years ago. Although he was never formally trained he taught himself to play guitar by learning the songs of his favorite bands such as Guns n Roses, Metallica, and Nirvana. His main songwriting influence came after he heard Lifehouse for the first time. Over the years he learned to write his own songs and eventually found his own unique voice. He is still looking for that perfect song to write. Lee, on the other hand, had experience playing the accordion, keyboard and some guitar. Although he listened to rock his musical influences, at that time, were mainly Latino. Although they were making progress as an acoustic duo they knew something was missing and began to actively seek out two more members. In the beginning of 2004 the band picked up its bassist/backup vocalist, Elias’s cousin, Saul Sanchez. Although he was also never trained in playing a bass he did have a musical background He showed high ambition in being part of the band and quickly taught himself to play; incorporating a melodic, yet technical, way of playing that complimented the melodies of the songs the band was writing. After auditioning a few drummers unsuccessfully, Lee filled in the void and completed the band, making it what it is today. The band played and practiced whenever they could, juggling school, work and all of life’s unforeseeable event’s, but never ceased from writing new songs and growing their catalog. Every summer, when away from school, the band played wherever they could. Now that Saul and Elias are finished with school, the band plans to play as much as they can and get there music heard. With a newly recorded EP, “One Way Road”, and a press kit in the works, the band plans on promoting their music in an effort to make more fans and gain more listeners.
