Jonathan Sprang, 25, has been writing songs since early on in his life. He began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 and stopped private lessons at the age of 17. The summer before his senior year of high school he became the lead singer for a band called Soul Sacrifice and sang with them till he graduated. Towards the end of that school year, the spring of 1998, he picked up his dad's guitar, which had been sitting in a closet for years, and began trying it out. He recieved instruction from friends and taught himself the rest by looking up chords/tabs on the internet and watching Dave Matthews play live. While in college at
Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN, he played for many of the events at the school, on and off campus. In 2007 he moved to Rowlett, TX to start a new kind of church called
Catalyst Rowlett. He loves the acoustic sound and enjoys writing soaring melodies represented in his former band
3 Miles From Sunday . His primary musical influences are
Dave Matthews Band,
John Mayer,
Michael Logen and
Abner Ramirez.
