Growing up in Dallas I was introduced to music at a really young age seeing as how my father was a sound guy / roadie for Michael Martin Murphy and Don Henley. Plus mom was going to concerts when she was pregnant with me so its pretty much been a big part of life from the very beginning. Then when I was nine years old I told my parents that I wanted a guitar for Christmas and that I wanted to be a musician when I grew up. Well I got that guitar and have never put it down since. I started singing and writing when I was about eleven years old. It was an awesome way for me to express emotions and feelings and it was pretty cool to jam out for friends and family. Then when I was about thirteen I took my music to the next level and started a band with some good friends. I learned so much from Brandon Sonnier and Matt Hollier they are both really amazing musicians. We played some shows and did some recordings all through junior high. Then I started to hear hey play that acoustic song all the time because people were really getting into the stuff I was writing. So I started the play some solo acoustic shows and response was amazing. I even got the opportunity when I was about 15 to record with Ron Grimes who wrote songs and produced LeAnn Rimes. Thats actually where the recording of Between Your Arms is from. It was awesome I also got the opportunity to tour the east coast twice and experience a lot of what the music industry offers. Then around the end of my sophomore year I found out that my dad had ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Those were the hardest two years of my life so far. We had to watch day after day as things just got worse, but I kept writing. I really didnt play very many shows because I wanted to be at home to spend time with him. He passed away not long after I graduated. I was a very sad time but my family stayed strong and I started touring again. I had written enough music for at least two albums so I hit the studio and got back up on stage. I was awesome, I got the opportunity to play a lot of really big shows and meet a lot of awesome people. I did the solo acoustic thing for a few years but when I turned twenty I meet Paul Wade, and we started jamming out together. Playing shows at Curtain Club and Liquid Lounge down in Dallas. The shows got bigger and we decided we needed to start piecing together a band. So we got Brandon Bush from Oceanside California on bass and Andy Sanchez from Rockwall Texas on drums. Southern Most Star was born. We hit the scene hard, playing everywhere from The Ridlea Theater to Club Clearview to The Door. The fans loved the fusion of so many different styles of music we brought to them. Word got out that we had some talent and Goodnight Audio of Dallas contacted us soon after asking us if we wanted to cut a three song EP, and we jumped on it. The first night we where in the studio we jammed out the version of Sideways and Three Words that weve had on the profiles for awhile. So with all of these things going on and the number of fans doubling everytime we turned around one of our biggest upsets came. Andy Sanchez decided that playing drums for Southern Most Star wasnt his true calling in life. He decided that going to college and pursuing a career in marketing and advertising is what he wanted. He did leave the band on good terms but were stuck with shows that were booked and studio time that still needed to be filled. I decided to record Broken Lines which is one of my acoustic tracks that I had written while Southern Most Star was together, and the response on that song has been incredible. With almost 20,000 plays in a little over 2 months its been amazing to see how many people its touched. I also decided to concentrate more on the acoustic solo career while SMS pieces itself back together. Ive been playing a lot of shows lately with nothing more then an acoustic guitar and my voice, which has brought a lot more attention to the music that I write. Now I have plans to have a fully mixed and mastered acoustic EP (demo) available by mid august, so keep your eyes out for that. And i would love to see you at a show sometime
