Rorschach Muse was founded in 2008 by the surviving members and principle songwriters of Magneto Combo; Greg and Todd Brin. The “melody” brothers created a modest following with Magneto Combo in the early 2000’s, charming their audiences with their “McCartney-esque” sensibility. Greg Brin is no stranger to the music scene for the past 25 years both locally and nationally in various projects including 90’s Austin staples Onyx, and The Remainders. Todd joined his brethren in the mid 90’s, and the duo began collaborating musically. Since, the brothers have been drawing from influences from folk and 70’s light rock powerhouses such as Wings, and Elton John as well as modern acts like Wilco and The Shins. Rorschach Muse has been dubbed the “thinking man’s band, yet seriously unserious”. This new incarnation has taken a more thoughtful, simple approach to writing while taking out the fluff distraction. Driving guitars, thoughtful lyrics, and melodic hooks attempt to give the local music scene something that it has been missing for years: room to breathe while purposefully combining the best of rock and pop. Rorschach Muse is in the studio now, working on a new collection of music that is sure to haunt the psyche of unsuspecting listeners.
