St. James inc put on their first show at the renowned South by Southwest Music Conference after playing together for merely 4 weeks. Austin Hartley-Leonard began as a solo singer-songwriter. On his impressive first demo, Hartley-Leonard played the majority of the instruments himself, including guitars, bass and cello. When it earned him an invitation to the 2004 SXSW, he started to look for other musicians to take his place as the band. Thus, St. James inc was born. While still a young band, St James inc has already played a number of nationally renowned venues such as The Mercury Lounge in New York and the Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre in San Antonio. In 2005 they performed at the Austin City Limits Festival alongside band favorites such as Coldplay, Oasis, and The Black Crowes. Armed with their new 8 Hours EP, St. James inc finished the summer playing a highly anticipated show at the Viper Room in West Hollywood, taking the stage at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, and relocating to Los Angeles.
