Sometime's it's SMOOTH... Sometime's it's CHOPPY! Yeah... there's never been a band where the name mirrors thier climb to fame... until now. Smooth Choppy is the only name we could ever use... because we welcome the bad right along with the good. "Without the sour... the sweet just ain't as sweet, baby!" About 4 years ago we started down the road of musical expression together (Tony and I have been jamming together for nearly eight years), and we vowed that we would stay away from the norm and seek out our own sound... and stick to it no matter what. Along the way we've heard such comments as "Rap-Rock is dead!" or "Pick a style and stick with it!" or my personal favorite... "Don't use so many words in your songs... you don't want to go over your audience's head! DO YOU?" (This last one came from an A and R representative that was more interested in eating his chicken fajitas than finding new talent. Guess he'd never heard of Busta Rhymes or Jason Mraz!). The point is... we've heard it all before. We've sucked every critisism in with a smile and exhaled them right along with the remainders of our bombest herb, but the feedback we've gotten here on MY SPACE is a testiment to how original we are. We've stayed positive and on track all through the years, and will continue to search for the best way to get our music to those that want to hear it. With a unique combination of Reggae, Rock, Funk, and Hip-Hop... we are helping to shape the music of tomorrow and bleeding the lines of genres together. Our fan base has grown tremendously in the past year due much to opening gigs with the likes of Blue October, Bowling For Soup, Jibe... etc., and we are currently recording our first major album titled Product of Pressure. Along with the work come the perks and we have been fortunate to meet many amazing people in our quest for recognition. We'd like to thank every one of our fans... for it's all of you that make this job worth surfing through the Smooth and the Choppy |
